Frank van Harmelen has been appointed as foreign member to the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts. Only 3 external members will be appointed to the KVAB (Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van Belgie voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten) this year, Frank among them. Frank will gave a public lecture at the “Paleis der Academiën” in Brussels on Friday 13 December, where he analysed the history of the field of AI as the pursuit of 5 different hypotheses on the nature of machine intelligence.
