HI team wins silver at Humane-AI-net LWM Hackathon
A team consisting of Niklas Höpner, Leon Eshuijs, Giacomo Zamprogno and Dimitris Alivanistos won 2nd place in a Hackathon in Kaiserslautern, organised by the European Network of Excellence HumaneAINet.
In this two-day hackathon, talents were invited to imagine the future of scientific processes in the age of foundational models. Participants had to propose the next “startup” that supports human-AI collaboration on scientific tasks, and experimented with the powers and limitations of ChatGPT to develop a minimum viable product .
The HI team was ranked 2nd with their solution that focused on generating novel research hypotheses, by trying to identify pairs of papers that have the potential to be combined to form a new one. Apart from ending up as one of the top teams, is noteworthy that this team was composed of researchers from 4 different research groups at UvA and VU, and two of them just recently started there PhD with us.
