Workshop “Large Language Models for media and democracy: wrecking or saving society?”April 23-24, 2024

Join us on April 23-24, 2024, at CWI for a workshop on “Large Language Models for media and democracy: wrecking or saving society?”. Over recent years, foundational models, such as large language models (LLMs) and multi-modal systems, have revolutionized our capabilities in understanding, analyzing, and generating human language. Leveraging artificial neural network computations trained on extensive document datasets, these models enable advanced tasks related to language, audio, video, and image processing.

This workshop explores technical and societal issues of foundational models, emphasizing the Dutch ecosystem. We’ll map challenges in developing and impacting society, especially in media and democracy. Addressing crucial issues and discussing recent developments are imperative due to the newness of these models, ensuring responsible navigation of their influence.
